Dystopia Kaohsiung in the Aftermath

Introduction

My Kaohsiung was honored with an exclusive digital rendering of Kaohsiung’s most famous attraction from a dystopian perspective as envisioned by the aspiring digital artist, 吳佩珏 (Jill Wu)

Kaohsiung City Dystopia

The photo was taken from the Penglai Pier-2 Light Rail Transit (LRT) in the Sizihwan area of Kaohsiung. This station is located in a major tourist area of Kaohsiung that offers many things to do. It is near the Pier-2 Art Center (駁二藝術特區), Kaohsiung Harbor Museum, Takao Railroad Museum, Hamasen Museum of Taiwan Railway, and the KW-2 (Kaohsiung Warehouse – 2) where the ferry to Cijin Island is located.

Her artwork has been featured in a leading digital art magazine as well as been invited to exhibit her work to the public. In fact, she was recently selected to the prestigious Technicolor Academy which is operated by one of the largest visual effects company in the world, MPC (Moving Pictures Company). They have created such stunning visual effects in the Lion King (2019), X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Aquaman, Predator, Blade Runner 2045 (2017), The Mummy (2017), Wonder Woman, Vin Diesel XXX Return of Xander Cage, among many other popular works.

Amazingly, Jill learned advanced digital graphics skill through online and book tutorials. Taiwan isn’t exactly known for digital art, so there are few courses available for students interested in working the the motion picture industry.

Giving Back

Jill hopes to change Taiwan’s lack of digital art training by providing the unique and cutting edge skills to future Taiwanese digital artists.

My long-term goal is to return to Taiwan and give back the knowledge from my motion pictures experience to train the next generation of digital artists.
