My Kaohsiung has compiled the 2019 racing schedule for Kaohsiung, Tainan, and Pingtung. Most of the races occur in March and April due to the pleasant weather. The summer months of July and August in Taiwan would pose a serious heat stroke (心髒病) risk to the runners.
Kaohsiung’s marathon (馬拉松) season opens with the 10th Annual Kaohsiung MIZUNO International Marathon (高雄馬拉松). The top prize is NTD$300,000 for first place. If you missed the registration for this year, you can start training for the 2020 race and a shot at the top prize.

(Kaohsiung Marathon: About)
All races offer options from beginners to avid (狂熱) runners. Common distances are 5K, 10K, half marathon (21.1K), marathon (42.2K), and the ultra-marathon (over 42.2K).
In addition to marathons, there will be triathlon (鐵人三項) events held. This involves swimming and bicycling, in addition to running. There are different lengths, but the ultimate is the Full Triathlon. This is also appropriately known as the Ironman race: Swim (3.8K), Bike (180K), Run (42.2K). The first Ironman race is on March 3, the Lover River International Triathlon. Registration is already closed, but the next triathlon is the Anping National Triathlon Tournament. Registration closes on February 17, so you still have time to sign up.
